Every year the Ed-Fi Alliance hosts its Technical Congress to bring together members from across the EdTech community, including data scientists, chief architects, IT application developers, software engineers, educational technology developers, and more. The goal of the Ed-Fi Alliance’s Tech Congress is to host a discussion-based forum with the community to help the Ed-Fi Data Standard and technology suite grow more usable, practical, and sophisticated to reach our shared goal of making a positive impact to assist student and classroom outcomes. Staff from across Education Analytics (EA) attended the two-day event and connected with school districts, EdTech leaders, and current and potential partner organizations. Here's what what they had to say about this year's Ed-Fi Tech Congress.
Tech Congress is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the growing Ed-Fi community and deepen our commitment to broadening the reach of interoperable data standards. It is inspiring to come together to identify and work towards solving the critical challenges still impacting educators, vendors, and service providers in the pursuit of improving student outcomes across the nation.

Tech Congress provides a more intimate venue to discuss deeper challenges surrounding Ed-Fi and its implementation. It’s rejuvenating to recognize that we are actively shaping a product to better meet the complex needs of schools and their constituents.

Tech Congress is the best demonstration of the strength of Ed-Fi’s community-driven strategy. It’s great to see the technical roadmap pivot and expand in real time to meet the challenges of states, LEAs, and the partners who support them.

Tech Congress stands out as a place where groups that might be competitors elsewhere collaborate to strengthen data infrastructure and improve student outcomes.

Tech Congress 2025 was a powerful reminder of the momentum behind Ed-Fi. I connected with teams at every stage of their journey—from those seeing a real impact in classrooms to those thoughtfully planning their first steps. Across conversations, the positivity about working with skilled partners like EA stood out, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in moving education data systems forward.

Tech Congress provides an opportunity to discuss and collaborate on opportunities and challenges. It’s always exciting and inspiring to me the equal attention that is paid to both large and small ideas/pain points. I think the balance of attention speaks to the desire to ensure that Ed-Fi and all of the providers continue to bring positive impact now and in the future.

The Ed-Fi Tech Congress is always a valuable opportunity to connect with the Ed-Fi community and learn about emerging needs and developments. This year there was buzz around the forthcoming Data Management Service (a new Ed-Fi technology architecture), improvements and additions to the data standard, success stories from the field, growing collaboration with other education standards organizations like 1EdTech, and interesting new use-cases and partners in the community.
